Step 3: Generate Your Recovery Phrase (Private Key)

  1. Download & install Ledger Live: ledger.com/ledger-live

  2. Connect your Ledger device via USB and follow the on-screen setup instructions.

  3. Write down your 12, 18, or 24-word recovery phrase (private key) on paper first.

  4. Verify the phrase by confirming it on the Ledger device.

  5. Create a 4–8 digit PIN code to protect device access.

🔒 Never share your recovery phrase online. Ledger will never ask for it.

Step 4: Configure Ledger Live & Add Crypto Accounts

  1. Open Ledger Live and enter your PIN code to unlock your device.

  2. Go to “My Ledger” and confirm device access on-screen.

  3. In the App Catalog, install apps for your preferred cryptocurrencies (e.g. Bitcoin, Ethereum, Polygon).

  4. Return to Accounts → Add Account, select the crypto you installed, and follow prompts to generate addresses.

  5. Confirm address creation on your device screen.

📥 Receive Crypto:
Click Receive to display your wallet address. Confirm it matches on your device before sharing.

📤 Send Crypto:
Click Send, paste the recipient’s blockchain address, and confirm the transaction on your Ledger.

Step 5: Transaction Confirmations

Each blockchain requires confirmations before a transaction is final:

  • Bitcoin: 1 block ≈ 10 minutes; 6–10 confirmations recommended for full settlement.

  • Ethereum & others: Confirmation times vary by network speed and congestion.
